What does Meta charge for?
Meta charges per delivered message:
Rates vary by category (marketing, utility, authentication, service) and the recipient’s country code.
How are service messages billed?
On connected production numbers, non-template messages have been a billable service category since October 1, 2026. Activation happens at 00:00 on October 1 in each WhatsApp Business Account’s own timezone, and each message is priced on the date it was delivered in that timezone — not when you sent it or when Kapso processed it. Meta gives each business phone number 1,000 free delivered service messages per month, shared across individual and group messages, with no rollover. Meta decides which deliveries fall inside the allowance and reports that classification back. Kapso charges these numbers only for deliveries Meta reports as billable, so a service charge appears after delivery rather than at send time. Sandbox service fees do not use this allowance. For the October rate card, the service rate equals the utility rate in every market Meta publishes. The WhatsApp Pricing guide covers how to estimate the impact on your own bill. You can pay Meta message fees with Kapso credits or use the payment method configured in your Meta account. The selected mode applies to the entire WhatsApp Business Account. See Meta message billing for the differences. Can I switch from Kapso credits to a Meta card on the same WhatsApp account?
No. Meta does not currently support switching a WABA that used a partner shared credit line to direct card payment, even after Kapso revokes its allocation. To pay Meta directly, plan a new WABA and migrate your number. See Payment issues before moving any assets. Can I use Kapso credits again after removing them?
You can try on the same WABA. Select Use Kapso credits on the WhatsApp billing card. Kapso checks eligibility before reconnecting, and Meta must accept a new credit allocation. A previous revocation does not guarantee that reconnection will succeed.Do Kapso credits cover Meta costs?
Yes, when the WABA uses Kapso credits for Meta message billing. Project credits and charges remain in USD. USD WABAs using Kapso messaging infrastructure use Meta’s published USD price; enabled non-USD WABAs also include the FX margin shown in Kapso. For a Multi-partner Solution using the Tech Provider’s messaging infrastructure, messages also include a 5% managed billing fee. This fee is separate from any FX margin. When the WABA pays Meta directly, Meta charges its configured payment method instead. Kapso plan message allowances and Meta message fees remain separate in both modes. How is WhatsApp Calling billed?
Meta charges for calls separately from Kapso plans:
Meta bills business-initiated calls in 6-second pulses and rounds a partial pulse up, so a 56-second call is 10 pulses. Call permission requests are messages and are billed as messages. See Meta’s Calling pricing for current rates.
Kapso credits can be used to pay for your WhatsApp calls.
Your voice runtime bills separately. Hosting, LLM, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and storage providers charge you directly. Check their current pricing, for example Pipecat Cloud and ElevenLabs Agents.
